Merseyside Police confirmed two children died during the attack in Southport, 30km from Liverpool in the UK, on Monday morning (29/7). Man enters children's dance class and stabs 9 people
According to local press, the suspect invaded the apartment building at around 11:50 a.m. local time where she was taking a dance class to songs by singer Taylor Swift.
Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell confirmed the man's arrest.
Police Chief Serena Kennedy confirmed the deaths of the two children and said their deaths were the result of a “brutal attack.”
Serena said nine people were injured, six of whom were in critical condition. He added that the two adults were in critical condition and all their injuries were from stab wounds.
Serena Kennedy explained that the motive for the attack has not yet been clarified, and that at this time, the investigation is still focusing on the underlying elements.
“The investigation is at an early stage and the motive for the incident is unclear. However, North West Counter-Terrorism Police have provided their support to Merseyside Police while the full circumstances of what happened are being established. At this time, the investigation is not believed to be terrorism-related,” the Chief Constable added.
