The The move has an impact worth £60 million (around €70 million).

The British government will move forward on Tuesday with legislation that would allow it to apply these sanctions already imposed on the Russian regime after its February 24 invasion of Ukraine.

According to a Foreign Office statement, the UK will ban exports to Belarus of “refined petroleum products, advanced technology components used in quantum computing and luxury goods such as works of art”.

At the same time, the import of “Belarusian iron and steel” is prohibited.

The British government wants to limit Belarus’ access to the financial services sector.

The United Kingdom is accusing President Alexander Lukashenko’s government of “radically facilitating” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

The measures announced today are on top of previous ones, including a 35% increase in tariffs on various Belarusian products and sanctions against Lukashenko and senior government officials.
