Royal Mail, the company responsible for the postal service in the United Kingdom, has released a tribute to the heavy metal band this Thursday, 5 Iron Maiden. The group will print a new series of stamps. In total, there will be twelve models, eight of which are images of members from around the world (including Rock in Rio) and four dedicated to the group’s iconic mascot, Eddie.
“When we first heard about the memorial project we were all completely surprised – in a good way – and equally speechless when we first saw the stamps. They sound amazing and capture the essence and energy of Maiden,” bassist Steve Harris said in an official statement.
It’s not the first time Royal Mail has honored a band from the country. The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020 and the Rolling Stones in 2022 have all made their mark on UK stamps.
