The British Meteorological Agency has issued a red alert for most parts of the country due to strong winds on Friday night, warning that “strong winds” may continue until Saturday.
The country is currently on orange or yellow alert, depending on the region, but weather services advise people to go only when needed.
In Northern Ireland, a man was killed Friday when a tree fell on his vehicle, police said. And in northwestern England, another died when a tree fell on him.
In Scotland, strong winds disrupted many railroads between Edinburgh, Glasgow and other cities. Many roads have been closed due to the rubble.
