The Ukrainian Air Force said that several cities in Ukraine were hit by Russian missiles on Thursday morning (29), including the capital, Kyiv. “December 29. Intense missile attack (…) The enemy is attacking Ukraine from several directions with air and sea missiles from planes and ships,” the Ukrainian Air Force said on social media.
According to presidential advisor Mikhailo Podolyak, more than 120 missiles were launched.
After a series of military setbacks and territorial losses over the past six months, Moscow has stepped up its air campaign, using drones and missiles to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
This morning, explosions were reported in several cities, including the capital, Kyiv, where Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned of possible power outages and urged residents to stock up on water.
The explosions in Kyiv caused at least three injuries, according to the council member. The military administration in the capital said that shrapnel from the missiles fell on two houses in the east of the city, while an industrial company and a kindergarten were damaged in the southwest.
Mayor Andrey Sadovyiyi said the explosions in the western city of Lviv left 90% of the city without electricity.
The governor of the Lviv region, Maxim Kozitsky, said air defense was working and urged residents to stay in shelters.
Mayor Igor Teregov said “a series of explosions” also took place in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city.
