Flight attendants of a Polish airline can choose sports shoes and pants as a dress code

Many airlines have already lost lawsuits over sexual demands, such as requiring women to wear makeup, high heels and skirts to work, even if they are uncomfortable.

Contrary to the norms, SkyUp Airlines, a private Ukrainian airline, decided to include sneakers and suits with trousers in its dress code.

The initiative came after the company heard feedback from flight attendants about its costume: “The high-heeled shoes are nice, but the feet swell at the end of the flight,” one of them said.

Another noted that “if the crew needed to land on the water and evacuate, the heel could damage the ladder and it wouldn’t be comfortable to swim in the skirt.”

The company said it researched the history of crew uniforms and decided to ditch the “conservative” elements of the flight attendant’s appearance.

From now on, braids will now replace buns or tight ponytails. Stiletto heels can be replaced with white sneakers; And pencil skirts will give way to a baggy orange suit, paired with trousers and a silk scarf, made by Ukrainian brands. The new uniform will be officially released on October 22nd.

“Although the image of a flight attendant is very romantic, her job requires a lot of physical training,” said Marianna Gregorash, head of marketing for SkyUp Airlines.

Grygorash added that the company also plans to launch a new outfit for the men’s crew: a light suit instead of a jacket and a shirt instead of a shirt, which will be combined with black sneakers.
