Scammers use the popular messaging app to spread malware known as Triada and steal user data. To avoid damage, it is important to take some security measures.

Malware scanned

This Trojan horse malware is used to harm idiots. It is able to disguise itself as an official app like Telegram to trick the user. Triada was discovered in 2016 and since then it has been used heavily by cybercriminals.

The software is used to download and execute other malware on the victim’s device, allowing the criminal to perform malicious activities on the infected device.

Fake telegram

A modified version of the Telegram app is available on unofficial Android stores that contain Triada. When a user downloads and runs the malware, the fraudster can steal their personal data and even access files stored on their cell phone.

This happens because the fake app requests a series of sensitive permissions that open the way for the virus to carry out malicious activities. Using this, a criminal can send messages, make calls, take pictures, record audios, and send device information to himself.

To a lesser extent, Triada may also cause the app to display ads with fake subscriptions to premium services in order to steal the victim’s financial data.

Preventive measures

In order not to be another victim of cyber criminals, never download your apps outside the Play Store or the official App Store. Also, check the permissions that the tool requests before confirming its installation.

Never access suspicious links or download files from unknown sources. Finally, back up your device frequently to avoid losing important files and information.
