Vegan pet food company reaches crowdfunding goal in 15 minutes

omni, A UK-based vegan dog food company launched a crowdfunding campaign through the Seedrs platform and reached its target of £400,000, the equivalent of just over R$2.5 million, within 15 minutes of launching the campaign.

Launched in 2021, the vegan food brand, now focused on dog nutrition, has seen 30% monthly growth since May 2021, with over 70% of its customers choosing to purchase their food through subscription plans. In 2022 alone, Omni has sold more than half a million of its products.

The company now also allows its clients to invest through the CRdfunder programme, starting at £11 (down from R$70).

Omni participated in the Proveg International incubator program in 2021, and in 2022 the program helped the brand raise £1.1m, with investors including Proveg.

Founded by veterinarian Jay Sandelusky and investor Shiv Sivakumar, Omni has scientific backing from the Nottingham Veterinary School and experts in the field of veterinary nutrition, according to its founders.

“Omni would not be where it is today without the support and loyalty of our community of vegetarians, vegans, and flexitarians who love their dogs but want to improve their health and the planet,” says Sandelowsky.

“Giving them the opportunity to have a stake in our business seems like the right thing to do and the right time too. We are very proud to have raised the money in just 15 minutes since the campaign went public.”

The money will be used to expand the brand, which includes research and development of plant-based products that are similar to beef, chicken and lamb.
