WhatsApp calls news
The new WhatsApp calling features should reach all devices where the messenger is available. According to the Meta company responsible for the application, the functions are scheduled to be implemented in the coming weeks, without a specific launch date. Check out the latest news below:
- Screen sharing with audio: Now the messenger will allow users to share screen image with audio. This feature can be ideal for watching videos, series or even movies together and is an upgrade from the function that was launched last year.
- More participants in the video at oncePreviously, WhatsApp allowed 32 people to participate simultaneously in voice calls only. Now, this number will also reach video calls, on all devices.
- Highlight the speaker: In a scenario with an increasing number of participants in each call, WhatsApp has added speaker recognition functionality, which allows users to easily see who is speaking. The speaker is automatically highlighted and appears first on the screen.
Improvements in audio and video quality
WhatsApp also announced the new MLow codec feature. The new function is supposed to improve noise and echo cancellation in calls made on mobile devices, and may be useful in noisy environments. The promise is that the sound will be clearer even with poor network connection or on older devices.
Another interesting point of the MLow codec is improving images in video calls. Depending on the messenger, the app will detect the user's connection speed and determine whether the video quality should be improved during the call or not.
