Asha encounters the handsome and seductive King Magnificent, a character animated by Brazilian actor Renato dos Anjos. The inspiration came from another classic Disney villain – Cruella, from Sleeping Beauty.
“He has to be a charming character so that people, when they watch the film and the viewers, think that the whole city believes in this man. This comes from the magic that he has,” highlights Renato dos Anjos, animation supervisor.
The actor known for many heroes, Chris Pine, was this time on the other side of the story.
“A villain makes everything more interesting. It's not enough to look bad, he needs charm and the ability to attract sympathy and compassion to their side of the story. But, deep down, the great is an insecure man who needs his personality. The wife has to tell time that everything about him is good and beautiful.”
