Woman stuck with duct tape on plane seat gets good score

A passenger received the largest fine in US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) history after attacking the crew and attempting to open an aircraft door mid-flight. To make matters worse, it had to be secured to the seat with duct tape. The case took place in July 2021.

The FAA fined the woman $81,850, roughly 386,000 Brazilian reals at current exchange rates, after she was the protagonist. The American Airlines flight, which left Dallas, Texas, and headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, takes about two hours on a plane.

On the turbulent flight, the woman fell into the aisle and threatened a crew member who offered help. After that I tried to open the cabin door and it was blocked.

The amount to be paid managed to overcome the fine of 77,272 US dollars, approximately 365 thousand Brazilian reais, in a case that also occurred in July last year. At that time, a man tried to open the plane door several times and bit another passenger.

Pete Buttigieg, the US Secretary of Transportation, urged that “if you’re on a plane, don’t be stupid and don’t put the crew and other passengers at risk.”
